What Inspires Me?

Anything beautiful, but especially……

People who live beautifully and well.

Easy elegance---in manners, dress and interiors.

A beautifully set table.

A good meal, lovingly made and served.

Fresh cut flowers

Beautifully scented candles

Good lighting

Like Living in the Clouds

Los Angeles, CA---Mogul's new Royalty Collection caught my eye straight away. Yours too? I love the super tall, snow-white, tufted-leather headboard paired with the white linen canopy. Feels a bit like living in the clouds. Another favorite and a perfect compliment to the bed: the Crown chair, a flamboyant dome chair in Italian white glove leather with black accents.

Paris 2009: My Favorite Things

Paris, France--The weather in Paris was cold and rainy, but still enormously productive for those who traveled to the City of Light in search of inspiration and new ideas. That was particularly true of Maison & Objet, widely regarded by trend trackers and forecasters as the single most important home furnishings trade show in the world. It is here, after all, that the newest and most significant color palettes, materials and style trends emerge before making their way to the United States. European exhibitors, especially those from France and Belgium, outdid themselves, presenting showgoers with a dazzling array of new looks. Among the most significant trends evident at the recent edition of the show: the use of neutrals (particularly cream and gray); naturally elegant materials and patterns (think linen, skins and scales); and lovely mottled, mirrored and silvered finishes, all of which conspired to create an ultra chic cocoon for the senses. A perfect example: the warm setting shown here from a French company called Metaphores. All in all, Maison & Objet once again proved to be a must-see for those who are serious about ferreting out the newest and very best in home furnishings.
